Children’s Development Unit for the Calderdale and Huddersfield Health Trust

We have just completed a project which has involved moving the Rainbow Child Development Service, currently based at Calderdale Hospital, to the new refurbished Clock House Building in Elland.  The Clock House has been specially redesigned to incorporate the very latest, modern fit-for-purpose and disability-friendly facilities, and includes brand new clinic and treatment rooms, an amazing sensory room, and an indoor and outdoor play area.

The scheme involved an internal strip out of the existing building, installation of new M&E and ventilation systems, a full clinical fit-out on the ground floor and office fit-out on the first floor, whilst liaising with designers for bespoke vinyl artwork and printed wall protection.

Here is a tour of the brand-new Rainbow Community Hub through the eyes of a child.

Our joinery team designed and installed the bespoke joinery features throughout the building whilst working in conjunction with the Infection Control Team and end users.

The children who attend the hospital love to play with puppets.

These puppets were given to our site manager by the nurses; the idea being that photographs were taken of them through the project looking like they have been involved with the build.

These photographs were then placed in a portfolio for the children who were extremely excited at the prospect of their new facilities.
